Facial Symmetry Explained

1
What Is Facial Symmetry?

Facial symmetry describes how closely the left and right sides of your face mirror each other. It is measured by comparing the position and proportion of paired features like your eyes, cheekbones, nostrils, and the corners of your mouth. Our facial symmetry test detects these landmarks automatically and calculates a percentage score representing your overall left-right balance.

2
Is My Face Asymmetrical? What's Normal

Nearly everyone has some facial asymmetry. Studies estimate that over 97% of people show measurable differences between the left and right sides of their face. Common examples include one eye sitting slightly higher, a jawline that is fuller on one side, or a nose that leans subtly in one direction. These differences are usually too small to notice in everyday life and are considered completely normal.

3
How Facial Symmetry Is Measured

Our test uses AI to map key facial landmarks including the corners of your eyes, the bridge and tip of your nose, the edges of your lips, and the contour of your jawline. It then compares the position and spacing of each pair of landmarks across the center axis of your face. The result is a symmetry percentage where higher scores indicate greater left-right balance.
