## Facial Symmetry Explained

###

1

What Is Facial Symmetry?

Facial symmetry describes how closely the left and right sides of your face mirror each other. It is measured by comparing the position and proportion of paired features like your eyes, cheekbones, nostrils, and the corners of your mouth. Our facial symmetry test detects these landmarks automatically and calculates a percentage score representing your overall left-right balance.

###

2

Is My Face Asymmetrical? What's Normal

Nearly everyone has some facial asymmetry. Studies estimate that over 97% of people show measurable differences between the left and right sides of their face. Common examples include one eye sitting slightly higher, a jawline that is fuller on one side, or a nose that leans subtly in one direction. These differences are usually too small to notice in everyday life and are considered completely normal.

How Facial Symmetry Is Measured

Our test uses AI to map key facial landmarks including the corners of your eyes, the bridge and tip of your nose, the edges of your lips, and the contour of your jawline. It then compares the position and spacing of each pair of landmarks across the center axis of your face. The result is a symmetry percentage where higher scores indicate greater left-right balance. No photo is stored during the process.

## Frequently Asked Questions

Get answers to common questions about our analyzer

### Is my face symmetrical?

Almost no face is perfectly symmetrical. Most people have some degree of left-right asymmetry, and that is completely normal. Our facial symmetry test measures the alignment of your eyes, nose, mouth, and jawline to give you a symmetry score. A score above 90% indicates high symmetry, but even scores in the 70-80% range are typical and healthy.

### What is facial symmetry?

Facial symmetry is the degree to which the left and right sides of your face mirror each other. It is measured by comparing the position and proportion of key facial features like your eyes, cheekbones, nose, and jawline. Some asymmetry is universal. Common examples include one eye sitting slightly higher than the other or a jawline that is fuller on one side.

### How does the facial symmetry test work?

Upload a front-facing photo and our AI detects key facial landmarks on both sides of your face. It then compares the position and spacing of those landmarks to calculate your overall symmetry score. The analysis is instant, free, and your photo is not stored.

### Can facial asymmetry be corrected?

Most facial asymmetry is mild and does not require correction. If asymmetry is noticeable, makeup techniques and photography angles can minimize its appearance. For more significant asymmetry, options range from orthodontic treatment to cosmetic procedures. If asymmetry appeared suddenly or is progressing, consult an eye doctor or medical professional to rule out underlying conditions.
